The Solar Stik™ was born as triplets in a small marina in Key West during the winter of 1997-98. Three small boats, preparing for unlikely voyages, were in need of a power generating system that could supply enough power for refrigeration, long range communications, and lights. Challenged with no room on deck for large solar systems, no large battery banks aboard, and no fuel-driven powerplants designed for power generation, the concept of the Solar Stik™ was born.
The Solar Stik™ would be small solar system that could produce the same amount of power as a large system by it's ability to follow the sun. The first units were crudely constructed late at night. The original design-work yielded a lightweight, free-standing "Marine" Solar Stik™ system which used very little deck space on the vessels, and provided the power necessary for the intrepid voyages.
The original Solar Stiks™ traveled far and wide on their boats, encountering the roughest of seas and the harshest marine environments. In 2003, after several thousands of voyaging miles, the original inventors got together and were stunned to see how well their inventions had fared, all were encouraged to hear each other's stories. During the meeting, one of the sailors talked of a trip to Peru and a land-trek across the country. He decided to adapt his Solar Stik™ for use on land. Utilizing the same principles that guided the process the first time, the "Terra" model was born. A Tripod was designed, tested, and sent off to explore.
In early 2004, having experienced first-hand the effectiveness of the Solar Stik™, the trio began the process of refining the Solar Stik™ with the intent to revolutionize the solar energy market. The inventors sought the best minds and machines to realize this, and after 3 years of refinements, research, and engineering, the Solar Stik™ was put into production at our modern facilities on the U.S. east coast.
We, the "inventors", want you to experience what the Solar Stik™ provides: Freedom. We have experienced "independence" from the restraints of traditional "fuel-driven" power generation, and the Solar Stik™ will give you the same "self-sufficient lifestyle" that we live every day.
The original Solar Stiks™ are still out sailing, with their original owners, on the original vessels. |
